Week Two –Special Event – Guest John Kohler Sept 23 –  “Just Because It’s Raw, Does Not Mean It’s Healthy”, “Growing Your Own Greens” & Spectacular Food Demo

  • In the talk, John will share his secrets on eating the highest vibrancy raw foods.  He will talk about the importance of selecting the freshest, most vibrant produce available.  Learn where and how to obtain the best organic produce.  He will also share with you how he converted his 1/10th acre suburban front lawn to an edible organic estate.  John will teach you how to prepare several “Raw California Cuisine” recipes.  John Kohler has been on the living and raw foods diet since 1995; he turned to living foods for healing from a life threatening-illness (spinal meningitis) and has enjoyed dynamic health ever since. The focus of his research has been in the area of obtaining the highest level of health. One of John’s goals is to educate the world about the power of living and raw foods.  He is the founder and creator of the largest living and raw food website on the internet, www.rawfoods.com.  John is also the founder of the Raw Health Expo in California. www.rawhealthexpo.com.  John also owns and manages www.discountjuicers.com  and is the number one expert on raw food’s appliances and gadgets in the world. He is widely sought out and regularly speaks and instructs at many raw food festivals and events. His area of expertise include recipe demos with 5-7 ingredients or less, young coconut recipes, traveling while raw, raw food appliances and successful transition to the raw foods diet. He believes that by using only a few fresh, organic, and whole ingredients simple, healthy, and tasteful recipes can be made.  He is known for his pragmatic approach to raw foods and has coached and helped thousands of people to incorporate more fresh raw fruits and vegetables into their diet. John currently lives in Northern California.
  • Homework:  watch at leisure the DVD’s- “Sprouting & Growing Wheatgrass” with their accompanying study guides, read about the benefits of sprouting in week 2 and test yourself with ph paper.

Week Three – Indoor Sprouting for Fun and Nutrition – Sept 30 – Guest Randy Jacobs

  • Learn to make and enjoy eating another appetizer – mock salmon served on red pepper squares – this is in section 17 of your notebooks since it is often served as an entrée.
  • Discussion of the article – “Enzymes” and the Hippocrates DVD “Supplements”

  • Guest Speaker – Dorothy Torrey, who tells her story of recovering from cancer and suicidal depression through living foods.  See her article, “Alkalizing with Unconditional Love”.

3.     Prepare 2 cups of salad dressing to share with the class and bring 12 copies of the recipe

Week 5  – Fasting on Liquid Nourishment/Purification– Oct 14  Guest Tom Lindsley

  • Salad dressing demos/presentation and sharing of salads, dressings and recipes
  • Guest speaker: Tom Lindsley, Hippocrates graduate with 20 years nutritional background and 8 years of eating living foods.
  • Discuss Hippocrates DVD “Fasting on Liquid Nourishment”:  The benefits of fasting on green juice rather than water.  A review of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits of fasting.  Discuss Hippocrates DVD Detox & Elimination:  The workings of the elimination systems (Lymph, Liver, Lung, Kidneys and Skin) and your bodies’ reactions to a detoxifying program).
  • Homework –
    1. Watch and complete study guide on Practical Living
    2. Read materials in section 6
    3. If you have a dehydrator, prepare a recipe, bring the dehydrated item and 12 copies of the recipe

Week 6 – Raising Childre in the Living Food Lifestyle – Oct 21 Guest Wendy Snyder

  • Dehydrating demo/presentation and sharing of many dehydrated living foods.
  • Guest Speaker Wendy Snyder, Life Force Energy & Hippocrates Health Institute graduate, chiropractor, mother of 7 year old twins, diagnosed with breast cancer July 2008, now feeling great – will share her journey to health and getting her family healthy.
  • Wendy will also join in the discussion of the DVD “Practical Living:  How to really live the Hippocrates lifestyle when you return home.  How you have what you need at home, work, and in social situations”.  The handouts – “Kids, Fruits & Veggies: An Awesome Combination” and “The Joy of Dehydrating” will also be discussed. 

Week 7 -  Detoxification – Oct 28 – Guests  Dorothy Torrey and David Korkosz

  • Marinara Sauce demo and hands-on preparation of many different types of pastas  using many gadgets and gizmos.
  • Breathwork (chief cleanser) and water (70% of our bodies) are key to detoxing.  David Korkosz who has been to advanced breathwork seminars will teach us effective breathing techniques for cleansing. 
  • Dorothy and  Betsy will talk and demonstrate  important properties of water and how to evaluate water systems.i you the benefits that we felt. When you change your water you do change
  • Homework:

1.     Watch and complete the study guide of the DVD “Internal Awareness” and read section 8 materials

2.     Prepare a fermented recipe to share if you wish.

Week 8 -  Internal  Awareness  -  Nov 4 Guest David Korkosz

  • Fermentation demo/presentation learning how to make sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables and  get your pro-biotics.
  • Discuss the Hippocrates DVD  Internal Awareness:  The basics of the digestive/eliminative system and how to detoxify.
  • You might think you know your digestive system until David describes it to you so you won’t forget and answers questions you might have.
  • Homework:

1.     Watch and complete study guide of DVD “Bringing It All Home”.

2.     Prepare and bring a living food dessert and 12 copies of the recipe

Week 9 – Bringing it all home – Nov 11 Guest Speaker – Bonnie Sinclair

  • Dessert demo/presentation.  Learn to make a “living food” icecream with no sweetner added and other healthy desserts.
  • Guest speaker:  Bonnie Sinclair,  graduate of Life Force Energy, Hippocrates Health Institute, single mom with 7 year old twins and full-time job practices the “living food” lifestyle recovering from fallopian tube cancer
  • Discuss Hippocrates DVD – “Bringing it all home: The physical, emotional and spiritual healing process. How to achieve your highest goals in life.  Applying the Hippocrates lifestyle at home.”
  • Graduation Ceremony
  • Homework:  Watch any DVD’s from the library which you haven’t seen

Week 10  –  Feast – Nov. 18 – Guest Joseph Lucier

  • Healer and Chef Joe Lucier, will be leading his famous class on Vegan Nutrition, Alkalizing for Health and Live Food Preparation.
