Tommy Priester on Wild Edibles

So after this AMAZING teaching of wild edibles, and really so much more, I forgot my digestive enzymes at home. I am having heartburn from eating too much yummy food at the potluck, then Tommy takes out pieces of calamus root and passes it around for everyone to try. After chewing it to my surprise, my heartburn is gone! My body becomes very warm and I had never tasted something with so much depth. I have been eating high raw for almost a year, but this is what my body has been waiting for all of this time, something that I know has so much more to heal my body than many of the helpful supplements that I have at home. This is from the earth, it is completely natural, grown right from the ground, not sprayed or processed with anything. Now I am excited to try wild edibles from my yard. I believe they will have so much more nutrition in them, than anything I could buy from at the store.
I will defintely say that Tommy Priester truly is a Master Herbalist. Once you hear him speak, and better yet experiencce his work, you will be convinced. He is gifted with an amazing amount of wisdom on healing through plants, and his Heart Mind Integration method.
Some of my personal highlights from this evening:
You do not have to go into the woods to get your wild edibles, just look in your yard, but be sure you know what you are putting in your mouth! Tommy says that we produce an energy that radiates up to 75 feet around us, so all of the plants that we really need will grow in a few seasons in that space. Most of us don’t realize the weeds that we are killing are actually there for a reason. Do you notice how they keep growing back? I believe that they are trying to make us aware, so that we can use them to heal our ailments. This spring, I will tell my husband NOT to kill those dandelions and plantains in our backyard. It’s most important, not to harvest where the land has been sprayed. The spray stays in the ground for a long time. Those sprays are a toxic estrogen and they are a carcinogenic.
I believe it, what do you think? Have you been trying to pull out dandelion in your back yard? It is the ailment for liver disorders. It treats anemia, aids digestion, purifies the blood and creates a balance of electrolytes. It can be used as an astringent, and the bitter leaves can be eaten raw in a salad or it can be ground up and used as a coffee substitute.
Or how about plantain? An amazing astringent. Make a poultice out of it and cure a spider bite, or a wound. You can go into your backyard instead of to the Dr. (And save a lot of money) It has been proven to be an anti-inflammatory, it helps asthma, the bladder, IBS, cystitis, bronchitis and a wide range of other problems.
Tommy tells of an ancient teaching, “For every illness that we create as humans, the plants will create a cure. We are supposed to use them, but honor them, pray and ask that they come back 10 fold for nutrition and make sure they hear you.”
OK so this is what I did…I have 4 aloe plants in my bay window at home….They have not been doing great, and have not been growing. I absolutely love these plants, but they have just been sitting in the window since the first frost. I was so inspired by what Tommy had taught us, that the very next day my two children and I sang songs to the plants, and sent them a lot of love and wishes to grow healthy and strong….TWO days later, they are a lighter green and have grown a noticeable amount…amazing!!!
It is true! Whatever your intention for the plant is what will happen, including when you put them into your body.
I could write for days on the information I learned in just one hour. It has already tremendously improved my way of life. I highly recommend that if you are on a health kick, want to learn about herbs, wild edibles, shamanism or you have anything physical or emotional that needs to be healed, then go see Tommy…you will not be disappointed.
Thank you for all of your teachings Tommy!
